Lowell Observatory: Worlds Revealed

Executive Director Dr. Jeffrey Hall will make a presentation at the Phillip England Center for the Performing Arts, 201 Camp Lincoln Road, in Camp Verde. Scheduled for Sunday, March 3, at 3:00 pm, the free program is entitled, Lowell Observatory: Worlds Revealed.

Percival Lowell founded the observatory bearing his name 130 years ago in Flagstaff. The observatory has grown from a small beginning into a non-profit research and public education institution with 130 employees and a flagship 4-meter telescope near Happy Jack, overlooking the Verde Valley.

In November 2024, Lowell will open its new $53,000,000 Marley Foundation Astronomy Discovery Center (ADC) designed to give the public an unparalleled experience in stargazing and astronomy exploration. Among many features, the ADC will include a rooftop, open-sky planetarium and a large gallery dedicated to inspiring and engaging children 8 and under about science and the universe.  Dr. Hall will describe the new Center and all the other recent developments and opportunities for visitors at the Mars Hill observatory in Flagstaff.  In addition, he will discuss the solar eclipse that will occur over a large swath of the U.S. on April 8, as well as the importance of dark-sky preservation.

The event is finished.
