Encouraged by this creative awakening, she embraced the ‘wild woman’ approach to painting, allowing herself to be guided by intuition and emotion rather than formal training. Embracing her ten-year period of “wild woman” painting, she realized that formal training would enhance the work. Her formal education has played a significant role in her artistic development. She holds an Associate of Arts in Graphic Design from Western New Mexico University in Silver City, New Mexico, beginning her fine art studies at Manchester Community College in Manchester, Connecticut. Accolades marked her academic journey, having earned awards for best student work and in student-juried shows, which bolstered her confidence and commitment to her artistic path. These experiences have laid a solid foundation for her continuous exploration and innovation in art.

Beyond her personal practice, Mary Rush is also dedicated to fostering creativity in others. Her workshops, known for their innovative journaling techniques, have helped many participants unlock their own artistic potential.
